Santo Padre,

Le chiedo scusa se sono irriverente, ma non mi è consentito altrimenti.

Lei, sulla guerra in Iraq, come su tutte le guerre, fa chiacchiere.

Lei non è uno qualsiasi: é il Papa e la seguono milioni di cristiani, anche non cattolici.

Perciò, sulla guerra, faccia sul serio e non declami.

Le suggerisco questo: chiami tutti i cristiani e dica loro di riunirsi nelle chiese di tutto il mondo, per una veglia di preghiera e di pace, con turni di giorno e di notte. Finche non termini il massacro. E non molli!

Questo Suo gesto non potrà essere ignorato e sulla Sua coscienza non peserà la responsabilità di non aver saputo piegare un governo su cui pesa questo ennesimo atto di crimine contro l'umanità. Abbia fiducia in Cristo.

Holy Father,

I beg your pardon for being irreverent, but I could not be otherwise.

On the war on Iraq as well as all other wars you merely prattle.

You are not simply anyone:  you are the Pope who is followed by millions of people, even non-Catholics. 

I urge you to get serious on the war and do not simply declaim.

I would suggest the following:  summon all Christians and tell them to gather together in the churches of the world for a vigil prayer and peace, with day and night shifts.  And do not give up.

This gesture could not be ignored, thus your conscience will not suffer the responsibility of not having been able to subdue a government that is responsible for yet again another crime against humanity.  Have faith in Christ.
